We were instructed to get planning approval to replace the original wing of this existing nursing home with a new linked building providing rooms which met current nursing requirements and building regulations. There were challenges at the outset due to the site being within a greenbelt and flood zone but with careful design and negotiation, planning was approved.
32, 1 and 2 bed sheltered living apartments. The site is located in central Wantage, not far from the conservation area. With that in mind we designed the block to be read as a terrace of houses along church street and work sympathetically with the existing buildings. As the photos show the project is nearing completion and is due to open late 2017.
The proposals on this site consisted of 34 x 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. The apartments on the upper floor have mezzanine galleries providing stunning views over the town and Beech Hurst Gardens.
The site was one of the last town centre sites available in Christchurch, it had been vacant for over 10 years with and extant planning approval which was no longer financially viable. We achieved planning approval for 26 Sheltered apartments and 2 retail units within a traditional style building reflecting the architectural style and detailing within Christchurch Town Centre. The high level glazed link maintains views and a private route between the High St and Druitt Gardens.
The development consisted of 21 x 1 and 2 bedroom sheltered living apartments. This site is situated in central Wareham, within the conservation area. They were designed to appear from the road as a terrace of houses as opposed to one single unit. We wanted the proposed units to sit comfortably within the existing street scene.
